Marija Banović received her Master’s degree in Medical Biotechnology from University of Rijeka, Croatia, in 2015. She worked in the laboratory of Dr. Antonija Jurak Begonja, focusing on the role of phosphoinositides in proplatelets formation. Marija joined the Corn Lab as a PhD student in November 2018, using genome editing to study how cells such as hematopoietic stem cells regulate loss of their organelles. Her interests include biology of hematopoietic stem/progenitor cells and translational research with the special emphasis on the implementation of genome editing technologies for therapeutic purposes.
